Amidst the surge in COVID cases across the country, various measures and curbs are announced in many states, including the closure of schools. New restrictions and guidelines have been released, and educational institutes will be shut accordingly to curb the surge in COVID cases.
Schools and colleges were closed in Delhi after witnessing the rapid increase in COVID cases in the city. Many cities and states including Punjab, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh have announced the closure of the educational region amidst the concern of the Omnicorn variant. Schools in Bihar and Karnataka are also shut.
Schools Shut: State-wise Update:
The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the closure of schools up to Class 10th till January 15, 20222 in view of the rising COVID cases. The night curfew in the state has also been extended. It will be imposed from 10 pm to 6 am as per the recent order. The Punjab government also instructed the closure of offline activities in educational institutions. The restrictions are imposed till January 15, 2022. The schools and colleges will conduct online classes.
In Bangalore, schools are shut for two weeks except for Class 10th-12th, Nursing and Medical colleges. The schools and colleges have been closed from January 6. Schools in Bihar will be closed till Class 8. Offline classes will be held for students of Class 9 and 12 with 50 per cent capacity. BMC has closed schools in Mumbai till January 31. In Pune, schools are closed from classes 1 to 8 till January 30.
Tamil Nadu schools have been shut for Classes 1 to 8 till January 10, 2022. Revised guidelines have been issued for Classes 9th to 12th students. Whereas, schools and colleges in West Bengal are shut till further notice. Telangana schools and colleges are closed from January 8 to January 16. Under the new restrictions, Jharkhand Schools and colleges will be closed till January 15. In Rajasthan, schools are closed in Jaipur for classes 1 to 8 till January 9, 2022. Whereas, Goa schools and colleges are closed till January 26.
