CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021: Central Board of Secondary Education yesterday shared its intent to conduct the 12th board exams. In the high-level meeting conducted by the Ministry of Education on Sunday, CBSE submitted its plan to conduct the exams. Final decision on the date and format of the examination is expected by June 1 and likely to be notified on cbse.gov.in.

A high level meeting was conducted on May 23, 2021 to discuss the pending 12th board exams. In the meeting chaired by Union Minister Rajnath Singh, education ministers of all states as well as Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal were present. As per reports, most of the states were in favour of conducting the examinations.

The board, in turn presented a proposal on how and when to conduct the examination in a manner that was safe. The examination would only be conducted for the major subjects. Also, students would have to appear only for 4 papers – one language and three electives. The options proposed are elaborated below.

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2021: How to conduct the exams

Option 1: Conduct the exams in the notified examination centers in the same format as prescribed. The paper would be of the three-hour duration and on the same patter.

For this, CBSE would require a total of three months. This would include the pre-exam prep as well as the time to conduct exam and 45 days to declare the results thereafter.

Option 2: The second option is a truncated examination. Under this, the board proposes conducting 90-min examination in objective type and short answer format. Students would appear for the exams from their own schools.

This option was the favored option. Also, the board would be able to declare the result in 15 days.

CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021 Dates: When to conduct

As reported, CBSE is proposing conducting the examination in two phases. The second phase would be for all such students who are not able to appear for the examination in phase 1 due to COVID.

Dates for the exam has not been finalized. It is likely that CBSE would conduct the Class 12 exams from July 15 to August 26. July 15 to August 1 would be Phase 1 while the second phase would be from August 8 to August 26. In order to ensure quick exams, board would also conduct papers on Sundays as well.
