On May 23, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) proposed two options in front of the GoM for conducting the pending exams. These included an option of conducting exams in the same pattern but for only major subjects. The other option was to conduct smaller duration exams in objective type format.
Most of the states at the meeting had favoured shorter duration exams. The other benefit of the second option was the quick declaration of result. CBSE had shared that results could be announced within 15 days after the exams.
A few states like Delhi and Maharashtra had opposed conducting examinations. The education ministers, Manish Sisodia and Varsha Gaikwad, respectively, did not ask for cancelling the exams. Instead, the request for vaccinating all students before the boards was put forth.
