CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021: States to share decision today

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is expected to announce the decision on 12th Board Exams by June 1. Ahead of that, the states would be sharing their feedback on the options presented by the board on CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021 by today – May 25, 2021. The final decision on Class 12 board exams, i.e., how and when they would be conducted, if at all, would then be announced.

High Level Meeting on pending exams

On May 23, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) proposed two options in front of the GoM for conducting the pending exams. These included an option of conducting exams in the same pattern but for only major subjects. The other option was to conduct smaller duration exams in objective type format.

Most of the states at the meeting had favoured shorter duration exams. The other benefit of the second option was the quick declaration of result. CBSE had shared that results could be announced within 15 days after the exams.

A few states like Delhi and Maharashtra had opposed conducting examinations. The education ministers, Manish Sisodia and Varsha Gaikwad, respectively, did not ask for cancelling the exams. Instead, the request for vaccinating all students before the boards was put forth.

CBSE 12th Board Exams 2021: Final Decision

Following the preliminary discussion, the states were asked to deliberate on the points discussed and revert by May 25. Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal had said that the final decision on CBSE exams would be taken with consensus from all states.

The final decision would then be announced by June 1. If the board decides to go ahead with the exams, it would share tentative dates as well as format for the exam. In case, however, the consensus is reached to cancel the exams, the board would then share the manner in which students would be evaluated.
