Campus Placements: TCS to hire 40,000 freshers in FY 2021-22 from Indian institutes

There is good news for all graduates! Tata Consultancy Services, one of the largest private-sector employer in India, has stated that it intends to hire 40,000 freshers from various campuses across India. In spite of the pandemic, TCS hired 40, 000 graduates through various campus placements. This year, the officials informed, they intend to do better than that in FY 2021-22.

The IT-Service firm has over 5 lakh employees. Speaking on the plans for expanding, the firm has shared that it intends to hire freshers for various functions. The group also affirmed its faith in the universities of the country and talent of individuals.

On the hiring plans, Milind Lakkad, EVP and Global Head, Human Resources in TCS informed reporters that the firm hired 40,000 graduates from campuses last year and it will do better on that number. The IT Service Company will also conduct lateral hiring this season. Lakkad said, “The lateral hiring is expected to be ‘robust’ this season.”

Also, he informed that the firm hired 2,000 trainees from the US campuses in the year 2020 and it aims for a better figure this year. The IT service firm seeks to replicate its successful model in India of hiring freshers and training them for the execution of projects for clients. Lakkad said that restrictions related to COVID 19 did not cause difficulty in hiring.

NG Subramanian, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of TCS said that there is no shortage of talent supply in the country. He added that nowhere else in the world one would get such phenomenal talent that it will get in India.

The Tata Group company also dismissed the concerns raised by start-ups and rival companies regarding rising wages for tech talent in the country. In this regard, NG Subramanian said, “India’s technology talent salaries are highly competitive and that’s the reason why the companies across the globe are eyeing the talent of the country.”

The company conducts different level of entry examination for a number of positions across its offices in the country. Lakhs of fresh graduates appear for the entrance examination, which was conducted in online mode in 2020 due to the pandemic.
